Xi Jinping Talks About Confucian Entrepreneurs

  In 1993, Fujian Fumin Foundation was established in Fujian Province. Promoted by Comrade Xi Jinping, the foundation was founded by Mr. Tsukamoto Yukishi. In an interview, Mr. Tsukamoto talked about his association with Comrade Xi Jinping. It was in May 1991 when Comrade Xi Jinping visited Japan, and Mr. Tsukamoto invited him over ...After a cordial talk, Comrade Xi Jinping said, “You just mentioned the understanding of Confucian entrepreneurs. I would like to tell you the story of Mr. Tan Kah Kee, a famous overseas Chinese in Fujian Province. Mr. Tan is highly respected in China and Southeast Asia. He invested all his money in education and established Xiamen University. The most impressive thing about Mr. Tan is that he knows that fact that doing business is as much about virtue as being a man. He advocates simplicity in life and keeps his word in business, exemplifying the Confucian entrepreneur temperament of‘As Heaven changes through movement; a gentleman makes unremitting efforts to perfect himself ’. I hope Mr. Tsukamoto will also become a respected Confucian entrepreneur.”

  2. Mr. Tsukamoto Yukishi is the founder of PLANT. In 1988, when he was over sixty years old, he expanded his business and established Fuzhou Rongdong Mobile House Co., Ltd. in Fuzhou City. In May 1991, Xi Jinping, then Secretary of Fuzhou Municipal Party Committee, visited Mr. Tsukamoto’s home. Mr. Tsukamoto has been honored many times in China, for his significant contributions to Sino-Japanese economic cooperation and local exchanges.
